Henderson Downer was called to the Bar in November 1969 at Lincoln’s Inn.
He commenced working in the public service in Jamaica in the Attorney General’s Department as an Assistant Crown Counsel in February 1971.
He was then transferred to the Office of The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in that year, and became a Deputy Director in 1977.
In 1981 he was appointed a Supreme Court Judge and thereafter he was appointed an Appeal Court Judge in 1988. He retired in 2004. He has been the Deputy Children’s Advocate since 2006.
